Succeeded the business of Pemberton & McDonnell. After the partnership was dissolved, McDonnell continued at 26 Fleet Street and Pemberton moved to 38 Fleet Street.

[Dates and addresses differ according to sources: the Dublin Directories give 26 Fleet Street with Pemberton from 1790 to 1802, 28 Fleet Street, 12 Anglesea Street from 1801 to 1815 and 6 Crow Street in 1823 . Teahan gives 26 Fleet Street from 1793 to 1800, 28 Fleet Street from 1801 to 1803 and 12 Anglesea Street from 1804 to 1815. Hogan gives 2 Church Lane from c. 1790 to 1810 (but as no other McDonnell is listed, this is assumed to be in reference to Alexander) and 2 Crow Street c. 1824. Kerry gives 2 Church Lane from 1790 to 1810 specifically for Daniel, but without citation and with no reference to Alexander.]
