Details:

Succeeded the solo business of Matthew Pace.

Mark: 'Royal Patent Kent Bugle (number) Made by Math|w Pace & Sons 23 Henry Street, Dublin, Halliday Inventor' (Waterhouse).

After 1815, the family moved to London and continued in the musical instrument business for three generations until c. 1913 (Bacon).

[Addresses differ according to sources: the Dublin Directories and Teahan give 26 Henry Street. The mark on the Royal Patent Kent Bugle gives the partnership at 23 Henry Street. Note: although the Ulster Museum instrument has the date '1778' stamped from on it, this appears to have been added later: it is in small capitals, quite unlike the flowing scripts of the engraved name on the bell and compares with a similarly dated bugle by J.B. Logier who was not in Dublin before 1809. ]
