Woffington, John

Dates Active in Dublin:

1720–1757

Details:

John Woffington was primarily an organist, serving at St Werburgh's Church (1720–24), spending 'near twelve months' in London studying under Dr Crofts (1724–25) and then being organist of St Michan's Church from 1725 to 1757 when he moved to Armagh Cathedral.

[Note: Flood states that in the 1720's Woffington was a noted harpsichord maker as well as an organ builder, but this has not been confirmed.]
