Listed as a bookseller and music publisher in 1737 (Gilbert, History of Dublin, cited in Munter).

As a violinist he was prominent in Dublin musical life during the 1740s and 1750s; he also conducted a number of Handel's oratorios.

Succeeded in business by his brother William.
